Prof. Xiaoming Sun

Biography:

Xiaoming Sun was born in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, in 1980. He received the B.Eng. degree in Power Electronics and Electric Drive and the Ph.D. degree in Power System and Its Automation from the Electrical Engineering Department of Wuhan University, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China, in 2003 and 2009, respectively.
From 2009 to 2012, he researched the stability calculation and analysis of the modern power system as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Yunnan Power Grid Corporation. Meanwhile, from 2009 to 2015, he was successively with Yunnan Electric Power Dispatching & Control Center, the High Voltage Research Department and the Power System Analysis Research Department of Yunnan Electric Power Research Institute, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, as a Senior Engineer.
From 2015 to now, he is with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the Educational Administration Office at Chongqing Water Resources and Electric Engineering College, Yongchuan District, Chongqing City, China, as an Associate Professor and a Deputy Director, working on both professional teaching and practice teaching management. His current research interest includes flexible AC transmission system (FACTS), relay protection and its test, modern digital signal processing, optimization algorithm and intelligent control.
Dr. Sun is also a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineers (CSEE) and a registered electrical engineer of China.
