Biography:
Dr. Sujit Kumar Paul is a Social Scientist, obtained Master’s and Ph.D. degree in Rural Development from Visva-Bharati (A Central University). He is also a development practitioner, researcher and resource person in the field of rural development and management. He has conducted several research projects funded by National and International agencies. As prolific writer, he has published more than 100 research papers on various developmental issues in the National and International journals of repute. He authored seven books – “Tribal Agriculture and Modernization: the Change and Continuity”, “Poverty, Health and Development”, “Rural Development: Concept and Recent Approaches”, “Women Empowerment”, “Empowerment of Tribal Women Through Self-Help Group”, “Education and Development” and “Sustainable Development through Education” by the reputed publishers with ISBN. He also edited three issues of the International Journal of World Education, published by the Association for World Education – An International NGO with the consultative of the United Nations. Presently, Dr. Paul is working as Head and Associate Professor in the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Visva-Bharati (A Central University and an Institution of National importance). Dr. Paul is actively involved in implementing “Sriniketan Experiment” initiated by Rabindranath Tagore. He also served as Deputy Dean in the Institute of Rural Reconstruction of the same University for more than four years. Dr. Paul visited different countries for academic, research and extension activities. He is closely associated with various Government and non-government organizations, societies and associations in different capacities. He is the Vice President (International) of the Association for World Education – An International NGO with consultative status in the United Nations. Dr. Paul was awarded ‘Bharat ShikshaRatan Award’ by the Global Society for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi in 2015 and Mother Teresa Sadbhawana Award with Medal for his outstanding achievement in individual contribution for National Economic and Social Development in 2016.
