
Associate Professor Tahir Usman

Biography:
Dr. Tahir Usman is an Asistant Professor at the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal
Husbandry, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Pakistan. He did his undergraduation in
Veterinary Medicin, master in Animal Genetics Breeding & Reproduction and master in Sociology
from the renowned universties in Pakistan. Dr. Usman did PhD in Animal Genetics Breeding &
Reproduction from China Agriculture University under Chinese Governament Scholarship (CSC) at
the age of 28 years. He then joined the University of Agriculture Peshawar, Pakistan as Assistant
Professor and thus remained youngest Assistant Professor of the university. Dr. Usman was
declared as a fourth best young scientists in all field of veterinary and animal sciences in Pakistan
during the year 2013. He did Post Doctorate at the Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology
(FBN) Dummerstorf, Germany under DAAD-Post Doctorate Fellowship. He has published more
than 30 reseach papers and bastracts in reputable peer review journals, published a book and got a
couple of national & international awards including the national award and research productivity
award during his PhD studies at China Agriculture University. He is serving as a reviewer and
editor with various journals. He has remained a member of different scientific societies and
conferences. He traveled a dozen of countries and is presently writing a travel book of his vast
traveling history around the world. His research focus is on genetic and epigenetic bases of
production and disease resistance traits in dairy cattle.
