Biography:

Professor Ji Wang has served as the Qianjiang Chair Professor of Zhejiang Province at Ningbo University since 2002. From 2013 to 2019, he was also Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies in the School of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics. He is the founding director of the Piezoelectric Device Laboratory.
Before entering academia, Professor Wang held several senior industry positions in the United States: Senior Engineer at SaRonix in Menlo Park, CA (2001–2002); Senior Engineer and Manager at NetFront Communications in Sunnyvale, CA (1999–2001); and Senior Member of Technical Staff at Epson Palo Alto Laboratory (1995–1999). He has also held visiting appointments at Chiba University, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Argonne National Laboratory.
Professor Wang earned his Bachelor’s degree from Gansu University of Technology in 1983, followed by a Master’s (1993) and PhD (1996) from Princeton University.
His research specializes in acoustic waves and high-frequency vibrations in elastic and piezoelectric solids for resonator design and analysis. His work in nonlinear vibration has led to several patents registered in both the United States and China. He has authored approximately 250 journal papers and is a frequent invited, keynote, and plenary speaker at major international conferences and academic institutions.
Professor Wang serves in advisory and board roles for leading companies in the acoustic wave device industry. He is also an active member of several international technical committees, including those associated with the IEEE UFFC Frequency Control Symposium & Ultrasonics Symposium, IEEE MTT-S, and IEC TC-49. Notably, he is the founding chair of both the CSTAM Committee on Mechanics of Electronic & Magnetic Devices and SPAWDA.
Currently, he holds the position of Executive Editor of MechanoEngineering and collaborates with faculty members of the University of Missouri-Columbia and Peking University. Previously, from 2015 to 2020, he served as Editor-in-Chief of Structural Longevity and has contributed to the editorial boards of multiple other prestigious international journals.
