Prof. Lee D. Wilson

Prof. Lee D. Wilson
University of Saskatchewan, Canada

Biography:

Lee Wilson’s research is internationally recognized and focuses on the chemistry of biopolymers and sustainable biomaterials that cover diverse fields: Materials Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry, and Supramolecular Chemistry. Current research is focused on understanding structure-function relationships related to adsorption science and technology. Wilson has published various peer-reviewed articles (>350) in the chemical literature with an H-index of 65 and an i10-index ~242 with more than 15,000 citations. His research group is actively involved in studies focused on the modification of biomaterials via green chemistry, along with characterization of their structure and properties. This research program address a range of fundamental scientific questions and practical problems that stem from the development of sustainable materials and sorption phenomena that are relevant to water, food, and energy security. Significant contributions to science and technology include the development of sustainable adsorbent materials, which serve to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) such as SDG-6 (clean water and sanitation). Wilson’s contributions include invited presentations at international scientific meetings and academic institutes across two decades. He has mentored and trained numerous personnel that are emerging leaders in various sectors of academia and industry. Wilson has served on various boards and as a science advisor for governmental and non-governmental organizations. His role model as an ambassador for STEM education has supported Indigenous youth across Canada and internationally for several decades through science outreach and academic programs.
