Biography:
Dr. Kwong-Cheong Wong is a Senior Lecturer in the Data Science and Policy Studies Programme at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). He holds a PhD in Computational Linguistics from Université Paris Diderot (Paris 7) and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Oxford. His research expertise spans data science, machine learning, natural language processing, large language models, and AI for social good.
Dr. Wong has made significant contributions to AI in healthcare, with recent publications on blood glucose prediction for diabetes patients, stroke mortality prediction using deep learning, and the use of retrieval-augmented generation to increase influenza vaccination uptake among older adults. He has also led research projects on explainable AI, fall risk assessment, climate change modelling, and intelligent service robots for the elderly.
Beyond academia, Dr. Wong serves as an honorary data analytics consultant and holds several non-remunerated advisory roles in AI technology and education. He is an Academic Lead for the APRU Social Impact Data Science Accelerator project and serves on the technical committees of multiple international conferences. His work bridges cutting-edge AI techniques with real-world social and policy challenges, reflecting his commitment to innovation and social impact.
