Biography:

René Wamkeue received his Ph.D in electrical engineering from écolePolytechnique de Montréal, Canada in February 1998. Currently, he is Full Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Université du Québec en Abitibi Témiscamingue, Québec, Canada where he has been since June 1998. He is also an Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering at Université Laval, Québec City (Canada) and Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, Québec (Canada). His research interests include control, power electronics, modeling and identification of electric machines, power system co-generation with induction generators and diagnosis of energy conversion systems. Prof. Wamkeue is IEEE senior member, member of the IEEE-PES Electric Machine Committee and the past secretary of Working Group 7 for revision of IEEE Std-115. Prof. Wamkeue is a recipient of 2009 IEEE Power Engineering Society Prize Paper Awards.
