Biography:

Gabriel de Oliveira has a background in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) (Brazil) with a MSc. and PhD. in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) (Brazil). He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Geography at the University of Kansas (KU) (USA). He is also Assistant Lecturer of Environmental Engineering at the Federal University of Sao Carlos (UFSCAR) (Brazil). He has participated in the scientific committee of national and international conferences and serves as a reviewer of the following journals: International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS), Journal of Earth Science and Engineering (JEASE), Advances in Remote Sensing (ARS), Remote Sensing (RS) and Open Journal of Forestry (OJF). He has presented his research in an important international conferences, such as the annual meetings of the American and European meteorological societies. He has published more than 30 papers in journals and conference proceedings. The main focus of his research is to improve the understanding about the surface energy balance in tropical areas, emphasizing the Amazon region. In this context, he has been carried out studies involving the modeling of evapotranspiration process and associated biophysical parameters in forest areas from the integration of insitu measurements (micrometeorological towers) and orbital data.
