Biography:

Amir R. Ali is an Assistant Professor in Mechatronics Engineering Department at the German University in Cairo (GUC). Amir is a Visitor Research Scholar in Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas Tech University (TTU). Also, Amir is a Visitor Research Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Amir is the founder and general director of the ARAtronics Lab (Applied-Science & Robotics Laboratory for Applied-Mechatronics) at the German University in Cairo. He received PhD degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 2015 from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, USA and his Master’s Degree as well as the German Diploma in Mechatonics Engineering in 2010 from The German University in Cairo (in Egypt) and Erlangen Nuremberg University (in Germany) respectively. His research focus on developing micro-resonator-based opto-mechanical sensors technology uses the whispering gallery mode (WGM) phenomena. His research papers have been accepted and published in peer viewed journals and international conferences. He has been awarded the Dean's and the ME Department's award for best presentation at the SMU Research day in 2013. He also won the best presentation award at the Research Improv sponsored by the Lyle School of Engineering for the same year. He is a member of the Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, (AIAA) and IEEE.
