Biography:
Dr. Sutapa Deb is a dedicated researcher and educator specializing in sustainable construction materials and structural engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, with expertise in fiber-reinforced cementitious composites, microstructural analysis, and innovative building materials.
Currently an Assistant Professor of the Civil Engineering Department at Galgotias University, Dr. Deb is committed to both teaching and research, focusing on sustainable materials, circular economy principles, and advanced concrete technology. She has previously worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and as a Solid Waste Management Expert under the Swachh Bharat Mission, Govt. of India.
Her expertise in designing and developing innovative building materials, including but not limited to supplementary cementitious materials, lightweight aggregate concrete, and alkali-activated materials with waste materials or byproducts. She also has experience in experimenting with processes related to mechanical testing, such as different strength tests, durability tests under air, water, and chemical exposure, and microstructural analysis through microscopy, spectroscopy, diffraction, calorimetry, and tomography studies. Her research contributions include publications in high-impact journals, international conference presentations, and collaborative projects on alternative cementitious materials. Passionate about education and societal impact, she actively participates in voluntary initiatives for underprivileged children.
