Biography:
Dr. Farhat Afrin received Ph.D. from
Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata, India. She did her postdoctoral
research at Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, National Institutes of Health,
Bethesda, MD, U.S.A. and Centre for Immunology and Infection, The Hull York
Medical School, University of York, U.K. She served Department of
Biotechnology, Jamia Hamdard (Hamdard University), New Delhi, India for 16 years. She then moved to Saudi Arabia
where she worked in the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology, Faculty of
Applied Medical Sciences, Taibah University, Madina for five years. Presently,
she is a Faculty member at Centre for Interdisciplinary Sciences, JIS Institute
of Advanced Studies and Research, JIS University, Kolkata, India.
Dr.
Afrin is a recipient of several honors including American Association of
Immunologists Young Faculty Travel Grant, Commonwealth Academic Staff
fellowship, Department of Biotechnology (DBT) Overseas Associateship, Indian Council of Medical Research
International fellowship for Young Indian Bio-medical Scientists, Department
of Science and Technology (DST) Fast
Track Proposal for Young Scientists besides grant-in-aids from
DBT, DST, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine, Government of India.
Her research interest is microbial immunology and nanomedicine with emphasis on
immunotherapeutics of leishmaniasis and other infectious diseases. She has active collaborations with distinguished
scientists in India as well as in Africa and Saudi Arabia. She
has published over 62 papers in Journals of International repute and is an Associate
Editor and Editorial Board member and reviewer of several Journals and Editor
of quite a few books.
I have received Ph.D. from Jadavpur University and have worked at
Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Kolkata. I did postdoctoral research at
Laboratory of Parasitic Diseases, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD,
U.S.A. and Centre for Immunology and Infection, The Hull York Medical School,
University of York, U.K. I have served the Department of Biotechnology, Jamia
Hamdard (Hamdard University), New Delhi, as a Faculty member for 16 years. I
