Title: Computational Mathematics: Why & How???
Abstract:
The present talk will initiate with exploring the potential of Mathematics and its encroachment to other real life problems. This has Led to two complicacies: complex Mathematical models governed by Complex boundary condition with irregular domains.
The efficient closed form solutions are not possible usually in such problems, hence the only possible way out is numerical solutions. With the fast development of computers, these numerical techniques have become very efficient and quick.
The present talk will provide a glimpse of various numerical approach for simulation of such problems. They can be categorized into two types (i) Grid based (ii) Grid free (Mesh free). Some of the Grid based methods are: Finite difference, Finite elements, NS FEM, Finite volume methods etc. The problems e.g. propagation of fire, Crack, bursting of stars, phase change etc. do not find efficient solutions with Grid based methods. To deal with them accurately, brief discussion will be done on implementation of Mesh free methods. Steps of implementations, different parameters and the limitations of the Mesh free methods will be given in the talk. It will end with some examples in various domains where Mesh free can be used efficiently.
