Title: Effect of Parasitic Element, DMS and DGS on Microstrip Array Antenna
Abstract:
Microwaves are widely used for point-to-point communications because their small
wavelength allows conveniently-sized antennas to direct them in narrow beams, which can be
pointed directly at the receiving antenna. But microstrip Antennas have few drawbacks such as
spurious radiation, low efficiency, low gain, higher level of cross polarization radiation, lower
power handling capability and inherently lower impedance bandwidth. The Antenna Parameters
can be improved by embedding parasitic element along with Defected Microstrip Structure
(DMS) and Defected Ground Structure (DGS). The Study is carried out for 2, 4 and 8 element
Array and the design consideration, experimental results of the proposed antennas are presented
and discussed.
