Title: AI and Global Citizenship: Advancing Learning with Next-Generation Technologies

Abstract:

This keynote speech delves into the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education, with a specific focus on fostering global citizenship. By drawing on findings from our empirical studies, it highlights how AI-driven tools can significantly enhance learning outcomes and promote intercultural competence.

Global citizenship is increasingly vital in today’s interconnected world. To address this, we created authentic learning environments where students from China and other countries engaged in meaningful communication. These interactions involved exchanging culture-related information and insights on global citizenship, enriching their understanding of diverse perspectives.

AI technologies played a central role in these learning environments. They were employed to deepen students’ comprehension of learning content, provide timely and credible responses to their questions, and offer consistent support throughout the learning process. These tools also facilitated improvements in critical areas, such as cross-cultural understanding, communication competence, and the ability to interact effectively with peers from different cultural backgrounds, even when speaking their native languages.

This speech underscores the potential of AI to reshape educational practices and provides actionable insights for educators and researchers seeking to integrate AI technologies into global citizenship education.
