Title: Advanced phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer technology and its applications

Abstract:

Phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometer (Φ-OTDR) technology can achieve distributed, long-distance and highly sensitive vibration event detection through the demodulation of Rayleigh backward scattering (RBS) signal. But there are still technical bottlenecks in the continuous improvement of performance, and the use of frequency-shift devices to generate multi-frequency RBS signals is an effective way to break through the bottleneck. To solve this problem, a multi-frequency detection Φ-OTDR system based on optical fiber frequency-shift delay loop is proposed, which can reduce the interference fading probability through the aggregation and multiplexing of multi-frequency RBS beat signals. Secondly, a novel method for suppressing crosstalk noise by compressed sensing in multi-frequency detection Φ-OTDR is proposed, which uses electro-optical modulation to generate multiple frequency-shift components. The frequency domain compression is also used to reduce the effect of crosstalk noise in each component. Perturbed signal sensing with an upper frequency limit is realized. Finally, a non-crosstalk frequency division multiplexing Φ-OTDR system is designed. The crosstalk noise between multicarrier probe pulses can be suppressed using cosine roll-off processing algorithm. The frequency bandwidth is extended with multi-channel frequency division multiplexing. The partial discharge ultrasonic detection and the transmission lines galloping detection experiments based on Φ-OTDR are carried out. The above research provides an important solution for the advanced Φ-OTDR system to break through the technical bottleneck and carry out more field applications.
