Title: Sustainable Renewable Energy Supply Chains, Performance, Application Barriers, and Strategies for Further Development

Abstract:

Renewable energy (RE) is a driving force in the effort to sustain the earth’s natural resources. Due to growing energy demand and environmental concerns, renewable/sustainable energy technologies are critical to protect environmental resources and to improve the quality of life. The United Nation Paris Agreement(2015) states that Renewable energy has the potential to play an important role in providing sustainable energy for the world community. Several renewable energy sources have been introduced as alternatives to traditional sources. In order to achieve sustainable energy supply, we discuss renewable energy sources from a supply chain perspective and investigate renewable energies focusing on four main components: renewable energy supply chain, renewable energy performance, and barriers and strategies to its development. The study provides managerial insights to governments, researchers, and stakeholders for the initiation of renewable energy use, and suggestions for overcoming the barriers to its development.
