Biography:

Roland Liblau, MD, PhD is a neurologist with specific interest in the pathophysiology and the therapy of CNS inflammatory diseases. He trained as a Neurologist at Salpetrière hospital in Paris, as a post-doc at Stanford University School of Medicine (Prof Hugh McDevitt’s Lab). He has been Prof of Clinical Immunology in Toulouse Medical School for the last 25 years. 
He is heading a laboratory of international standing focusing on the immune mechanisms underlying CNS inflammatory diseases, including multiple sclerosis, MOGAD, narcolepsy type 1 and autoimmune encephalitis. The scientific approach is based on clinical research projects and study of original animal models to identify novel therapeutic targets. He has made contributions in first tier journals, most on CNS inflammation, such as Science Translational Medicine, Immunity, PNAS, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Nature Communications, Nature Reviews Immunology, Nature Reviews Neurology.
He was the  recipient of the European Sobek prize on multiple sclerosis in 2025 and was elected member of the French National Academy of Medicine in 2026.
