Title: Building Competitive Higher Education as the Modern University
Abstract:
The objective of this paper is to explore ways in which a competitive higher education can be built taking into account the benefits to its three main stakeholders – the university, industrial sector and community. The purpose is to lay down the mechanics of enhancing the teaching skills of the faculty members and the overall learning skills of the students. The work done thus far has discussed only one of the two aspects i.e., how to build a teaching university or a research university or teaching cum research university, in the perspective of Teaching (T), Research (R), Industry partnership (I), Community development(C) and Knowledge sharing (K) and how this approach helps in building a competitive higher education.
Biography:
Agustinus Hermino Superma long experience in educational management in the international level. His Bachelor degree was in Civil Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia; and his Master degree and Doctor degree in Educational Management from the State University of Malang, Indonesia. He contributed to improving the quality of education in the rural and remote areas in Indonesia when he worked as a member of the Expert Staff Team of the Minister of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia; and he also contributed to improving the quality of learning process in the higher education in Laos, especially in the development of the Interprofessional Education/ Interprofessional Collaboration (IPE/IPC) curriculum model. His expertise as a Project Director, Project Manager, Educational Management Consultant, Researcher, and Book Writer. Some projects that ever done by him such as under the World Bank, GTZ, AUSAid; UNICEF; World Vision International; Cardno International Indonesia; Provisi Education Indonesia; World Concern Laos; ChildFund Laos; JAPFA Foundation; and other international organizations. He is also as a Reviewer in several International Journals, International Swimming Coach, and Master Swimmer in the Open Water Swimming registered by FINA (World Aquatics). At this time, he is working as an International Lecturer at the National University of Laos (NUOL); as an Individual Consultant in several NGOs; and also as an International Consultant at the Department of Higher Education (DHE), Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES), Lao PDR. His publication can be seen in the “google scholar agustinus hermino”, and in the “Alper-Doger (AD) Scientific Index Agustinus Hermino”.
