Title: Innovation and Artificial Intelligence: A New Hope in Deafblind Education
Abstract:
The intersection of innovation and artificial intelligence (AI) offers unprecedented opportunities in transforming education for learners with deafblindness. Traditionally marginalized due to complex communication and sensory challenges, individuals with deafblindness often face significant barriers in accessing equitable educational experiences. However, with recent advancements in AI-driven assistive technologies, such as haptic feedback systems, AI-based tactile interpreters, and multimodal communication platforms, new doors of learning and interaction are opening. This keynote explores the transformative potential of AI to support personalized learning, adaptive communication, and independent living for students with deafblindness. Drawing on global research, case studies, and real-world innovations, it highlights how AI can bridge sensory gaps, empower educators, and foster inclusive learning environments. Furthermore, ethical considerations, accessibility, and the need for collaborative design with the deafblind community will be emphasized. As we move towards a more inclusive digital future, innovation and AI are no longer optional, they are essential tools to ensure that no learner is left behind in the silent and unseen corners of the world. This address is a call to educators, researchers, technologists, and policymakers to embrace AI not just as a tool, but as a hope for a more just and inclusive educational landscape.
