Title: Innovative Virtual Simulation Laboratory: Construction and Future Development
Abstract:
This report focuses on the relationship between the evolution of information technology in the dimension of information space and the innovation of teaching environments. It systematically sorts out the upgrading trends of information technology from one-dimensional to three-dimensional in terms of representation, equipment, interaction, and content generation. It elaborates on the integration of virtual reality and artificial intelligence technologies as the core foundation of the digital-intelligent symbiotic teaching environment and their ultimate technical value in the field of education, with particular attention to the development of virtual simulation experimental teaching resources empowered by artificial intelligence. Addressing the main problems existing in the current construction and teaching practice of virtual simulation experimental projects, the report proposes a construction process for virtual simulation innovation laboratories, while introducing experimental teaching resources, equipment, platforms, intelligent agents, and professional functional virtual simulation experimental systems. It presents the successful experience of some universities in China on the construction of future learning centers and virtual simulation teaching innovation laboratories, and prospects the future development of virtual simulation innovation experiments in combination with the latest technologies, equipment, and processes.

Biography:
Fuan Wen has worked in School of Network Education since 2000 and has engaged in research and development on virtual experiment, multimedia network learning system, and VR/AR/MR applications. From 2003 to 2005, he had been appointed to be one of the key experts for "Narrowing Digital-divide—West Action Program" and the senior expert for "Network Education" project by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China. He was elected to be the special education supervisor by Beijing city government in 2004. He was honored as an excellent teacher of BUPT In 2007. He was a member of the 10th Academic Committee of BUPT in 2009. He was officially hired by the national first-class science and technology journal "Software" magazine as a special editorial board in 2012. He was hired as an expert of Virtual reality Professional Committee of China Electronics Quality Management Association in 2017. He was hired as a member of the Technical Working Committee of the Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching Center Alliance in 2019. He was elected as a member of the Intelligent Service Committee of the Chinese Society for Artificial Intelligence in 2020. He served as Vice chairman of China Virtual Reality Technology and Industrial Innovation Platform in 2021. He was elected deputy director of the Virtual Reality Education Working Committee of the Information Technology New Engineering Alliance in 2022.
