Title: Screening and designing high-performance silicon carbide-based sensors and energy devices

Abstract:

Nano-domain structured silicon carbide-based ceramics are novel class of materials with excellent stability and piezoresistive performance at high temperature, yet challenging to build to meet the rapid growth of large-area electronics. Herein, the screening and designing progress on applications of the SiC ceramics on high temperature pressure sensors and all-solid-state batteries is introduced. A thin and highly sensitive hybrid SiCN piezoresistive films enabled by coupling piezoelectric effect of Al-doped ZnO (AZO) is demonstrated. The hybrid thin films with the optimal nano-domain phase of SiCN features ultrahigh gauge factors upon various compressive stresses. In addition, a novel computational strategy by combining machine learning and first-principles is proposed for achieving effective and efficient screening high performance SiCO-based ASSBs than by first-principles or experiments alone.
