Title: Advanced Technology, Trade war and reshaping of the global value chains
Abstract:
Financial crisis, unemployment and rise of rightist political
agendas are reshaping the global value chains and accelerating slow-balization
of global trade. Since the fall of
Berlin wall, the world economy has witnessed an unprecedented opening of the
markets across the globe and accelerated cross-border trades of not only
complete goods but also the intermediate components and contributed to the
creations of Global value chains. But the weaponization of trade is forcing
countries and companies to re-think the way they conduct their businesses and
increasingly adhering to the decoupling and/or de-risking of their value chain
policies. In my speech, I would like to focus on how the trade war is changing
the logics of exchanges of goods between the markets and companies and how
those changes will affect the current global value chains and how we can
overcome those challenges and translate them into opportunities. Articulating
global trade policies, Moving up the value chains, and the advanced technology
might contribute to reshape the global value chains and enhance productivity
and competitiveness of firms.
