Title: Laser Spectroscopic Sensing Technology Based on Quartz Tuning Fork Detection

Abstract:

Gas detection technologies based on laser spectroscopy offer significant advantages, including high sensitivity and strong selectivity. A quartz tuning fork (QTF), commonly used in electronic watches as a frequency reference, is essentially a quartz oscillator with its protective casing removed. Quartz tuning forks feature several advantages, such as low cost, compact size, and high quality factor (Q factor). As detectors, quartz tuning forks have been widely employed in various applications, including atomic force microscopy probes, force sensing, magnetic force microscopy, and gas sensing.

In this presentation, we will focus on laser spectroscopic gas sensing technologies based on quartz tuning fork detection. Specifically, the piezoelectric effect and photoinduced thermoelastic effect of quartz tuning forks will be utilized to measure the concentration of target gases. The presentation will mainly introduce the recent research achievements of our research group in laser spectroscopic detection technologies based on quartz tuning forks, as well as other types of laser spectroscopic gas detection technologies.
