Title: AI‑Assisted Nonlinear Modeling of RF Power Amplifiers: Challenges, Advances, and Applications
Abstract:
RF power amplifiers (PAs) are critical components in wireless communication systems, and their nonlinear characteristics directly affect signal quality and system efficiency. With the ever‑increasing demands of 5G/6G for bandwidth and efficiency, PAs are often operated near saturation, giving rise to severe AM‑AM and AM‑PM distortion as well as memory effects. Traditional behavioral models based on Volterra series and memory polynomials face bottlenecks in terms of accuracy, generalization capability, and adaptability.
In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have provided a new paradigm for nonlinear PA modeling. This report systematically reviews the major challenges and research advances in AI‑assisted PA modeling, with the aim of offering novel solutions for the design of high‑efficiency, high‑linearity RF transmitters.
